West Ranch High is a fairly new school that has produce many outstanding students in its 14 years; however, track specifically hurdles has had its fair share of success, but also dark times. If you would to put a pen on paper and name at least 5 greats in West Ranch hurdles history you would have a problem just naming two. With a foundation that lacks any tradition, where do you look, where do you begin, and where do the next generation of possibly GREAT hurdlers start.
This is the current dilemma for Mya Davis who is the corner stone piece that West Ranch hurdles has to build around. The Sophomore last year posted unbelievable times in Foothill League with winning the 300mH Varsity crown with a time of 40.86. Leaving Golden Valley's senior Andre Rivera and Hart's Sophomore Cole Shirakata in the dust. In addition, narrowly lost to Hart's Cole Shirakata by .04 in Foothill League Finals 110mH race. Now going into his Junior year Mya Davis is locked in on what maybe the best hurdling we have seen in West Ranch History about to begin.

Scv Hurdles asked Mya where was he his freshman year? He replied, "I started running for WR my freshman year. It was lots of fun to see what high school track was like, but I didnt find my niche (hurdles and jumps) until sophomore year." The imagination of where Mya could have been if he just fond hurdles his freshman year would have been frightening for the league; however, you can't look at the past you have to create the future.
Mya Goals for next season are realistic with his hard work ethic that pushes himself everyday to be the best. "Low 14 second 110m hurdles record, and 37-38 second 300m hurdle record." Since Mya has come on the screen he was pushed the envelope moe and more. With these goals in his sight he will be a threat not only in the Foothill League but in the California.
