The number of Girls under the 50 second barrier from the 2015 Season.
With a handful of girls knocking on the door of 50 seconds, it should be interesting how many more will be able to eclipse this task.
With West Ranch Junior and defending champion Adaugo Oguejiofor leading the way, this should be an interesting year to see if she can defend her crown. With a PR of 46.78 against Saugus, Adaugo will be the obvious choice to watch in this valley. Her time alone is the fastest in West Ranch's 10 year tender. With many more improvements to come from her, she should be able to accomplish 45 easily.
Who is Adaugo's biggest challenger?
Seanna Nalbandian of Canyon High School nearly took down Adaugo during League Finals; just like she did a few days prior to League Prelims. The cowgirl came out of nowhere when she ran a blistering 48.08 in prelims earning the number one spot going into finals. Seanna is a 400m runner who was able to transfer her endurance into the hurdles race. With more practice, she could overthrow Adaugo as the best 300mH in the Valley.
Kassie Matthews, Hart High School junior, had a season that was a rollercoaster after coming into the 2015 track season with a hyper-extended elbow that sidelined her for two weeks. While she was getting back into her hurdle form, her 300mH time dropped from a 50 to a 48 in a blink of an eye. Going into League Finals she had everything going her way except for the strained hip flexor she suffered during League Prelims.
A promising career for Kassie if she can maintain her health throughout the entire 2016 track season.
With so much depth in this valley, will we see more girls going under the 50 barrier. Could we see multiple girls running in the 46's this season?
