Can Canyon Hurdles Continue The Streak of 110mH Varsity Titles or Will A New Champion Arise?
,Over the last few years, Canyon has come on Top in the 110mH Varsity Race by performing when it is needed most. For instance, Jarrett Davidson turned the 2014 110mH finals race around at the 5th hurdle when he was trailing Hart's Matthew Nali for half of the hurdle race.
For Shane Stach, he was the favorite to go in the 2015 Foothill League Finals and Boy did he deliver. Dominating from the start, Shane was the first to the hurdle and finish line. Finishing with a 15.36, he defeated Hart's DJ Aponik by .5 and the rest of the field by almost 3 seconds in total.
Can Lance Panariello continue what Jarrett and Shane have started?
Even for the Sophomore prodigy, who shocked the Foothill League with a dominate 300mH Campaign, the 110mH remains his weakest hurdle event that needs much improvement to be considered a Top contender in the Foothill League 110mH Varsity race.
Who's the Top Contender?
On paper, the second fastest time would be Hart's very own DJ Aponik who came in second last year in the 110mH. DJ will be the favorite to go in since his Sophomore and Junior Season he has only lost to Shane Stach (Canyon), Nathan Ray (Golden Valley), and teammate Jackson Potter (Hart).
But not to far behind is Golden Valley's Nathan Ray who is only .04 away from tying DJ's personal best. Nathan is the only returnee who already has defeated DJ Aponik back in the 2014 Foothill League Finals 110mH Frosh/Soph.
Will history repeat itself for Nathan and DJ or will Lance Panariello defy the odds that are against him?
